The Mississippi Boychoir Concert - Jackson Free Press


The choir consists of boys ages 6-18. The Metropolitan Male Chorus also performs.




Discover the “wonderful world” of boychoir music with Mississippi Boychoir and its alumni as it concludes its 19th season with a concert, Saturday, May 10th, 6:00 p.m., St. Philips Episcopal Church, Old Canton Road in Jackson. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Lelon Thompson, Mississippi Boychoir members, ages 6 through 18 reflecting the ethnic ,religious and cultural diversity of our state, come from schools across central Mississippi. Featuring music selections from around the world, audiences are sure to be dazzled by a memorable performance.


Chosen selections include those by G.F. Handel, Andrea Ramsey, William L. Dawson, John Rutter, Carlos Simon, Douglas Wagner, Jay Althouse, Rollo A. Dilworth, Smokey Robinson, Michael Neaum, Marta King, Linda Spevacek, and Randall Thompson.


Often called on to collaborate with other musical organizations, Mississippi Boychoir has performed with the Mississippi Opera, at the Governor’s inauguration, the Arizona Music Festival, Mississippi Braves game, Eudora Welty Birthday Celebration, American Boychoir, Moscow Boys Choir, Choirs of USM, Millsaps, Belhaven, Mississippi College, JSU, Delta State, ladies national tennis tournament, schools, churches, retirement homes and weddings.
