Mayor Tony Yarber and the City of Jackson will partner with Waste Management to offer a public viewing of a compressed natural gas (CNG) truck – the same model featured in Michael Bay’s film, Transformers: Age of Distinction.

The event will take place July 1, from noon to 1 p.m., at the Russell C. Davis Planetarium, located at 201 E. Pascagoula St.

The CNG trucks, which currently operate in the City of Jackson, are equipped with several technological features and run on clean fuel. The truck also has a special edition decal on the side depicting a Waste Management truck casting the shadow of a Transformer.

An actual CNG truck will be on display, as well as artwork. Youth from Jackson’s Bethlehem Center and AmeriCorps will be given the opportunity to tour the vehicle, and each will be provided with a complimentary Transformers: Age of Distinction movie ticket, courtesy of Waste Management. The film is released in theaters June 27.

“This is a great opportunity for young people in Jackson to learn more about clean fuel initiatives,” Yarber said.

Jackson was selected as one of the premiere cities to host a “Truck Tour” event because of its long-standing relationship with Waste Management. The company opened its 50th natural gas fueling station in Jackson in July 2013.
