JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The search is over for the missing Mississippi 17-year-old at the center of the weekend Amber Alert.


Police confirm Katelyn Beard's body has been found.


Earlier, authorities called a coroner to Darden road, near the scene of a morning search.


For now, Dewayne Thompson is accused of wounding and kidnapping Katelyn Beard.


He was taken into custody on Monday, just a few blocks away from a home where police say the teen was shot Sunday morning.


He is only being charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, and auto theft for now.


Monday night, Thompson was seen leading officers around a field in the Pocahontas area.


Crews returned to the scene on Joe Coker road to continue the search Tuesday morning.


Beard was abducted Sunday morning between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. from 4244 Lynda Street in Jackson.


The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for Beard on Sunday night.
