6 students, driver hurt in school bus crash - Mississippi News Now

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Six students and a driver were injured in a crash involving a Hinds County school bus.

Emergency crews were called about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday to Norrell Road and Old Highway 80, west of Clinton.

Officials tell WAPT-TV (http://bit.ly/VlmaP4 ) the bus was carrying the driver, a bus monitor and nine students.

Emergency officials say a gray van ran the bus off the road, causing it to crash into a ditch. However, school officials said no other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Seven patients were taken to area hospitals. American Medical Response officials say one student had life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
