A/C units stolen, vandalized at Jackson schools - Mississippi News Now

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Some Jackson Public Schools classrooms will be impacted by the theft and vandalizing of air conditioning units.

School district spokesman Sherwin Johnson tells The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/1oo5PzI ) air conditioning units have been damaged or stolen from seven schools.

Johnson says the school district is getting the parts needed to repair or replace 50 units at each of the schools affected. He says the process could take six to eight weeks and cost and estimated $250,000.

Classes start August 18.

Johnson says each school has a plan to deal with high temperatures until the units are replaced.
