JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi is becoming a go-to state when it comes to movie making. Thursday scenes for the movie The Hollars were shot in downtown Jackson.

The movie starring John Kranzinski and Anna Kendrick has been shooting at several Mississippi locations over the last few weeks.

Officials with the Mississippi Film Office say incentives are drawing more filmmakers to our state.

A cash rebate of 25-to-30 percent is being given on productions that use local businesses, and put locals on their payroll. Three movies are being shot this week, and the list keeps growing.

"We are incredibly busy right now," said Nina Parihk, Deputy Director of the Mississippi Film Office. "We have The Hollars finishing up, we have a movie that just started on the gulf coast yesterday called Impact Earth, we have one movie that begins shooting next week called the Livingston Gardener. Then we have another one just announced called By Way Of Helena, that's going to the delta."

There's plenty of talent working as extras in the movies, as well as behind the camera.

Brian Hilburn who is a Clinton native, is the location manager for The Hollars.

He has worked on several movies shot here in the state, including the Ghosts of Mississippi.

"Mississippi is a great backdrop for locations," said Hilburn. "This is our fourth week filming here, we're about to wrap up. It's been a great location to shoot in. People are great, the community very receptive to filming, it's just a great location for people."
