Music filled the air at the Outlets of Mississippi Saturday where singers competed to become Jackson's Idol. Four finalists performed before a live audience at the Pearl shopping center.
The contestants were vying for a shot at singing at the Jackson Rhythm and Blues Festival August 15th and 16th at the Mississippi Ag Museum.
Headliners for the event include Ziggy Marley, Fantasia, Bell Biv Devoe, Bobby Rush and Denise Lasalle.
The crowd helped judges select the winner. Kendrick Vivians took home the trophy for his soothing rendition of Luther Vandross's " A House is Not a Home."
"I was really impressed with our local Mississippi talent. They were excellent performers. They really get into their songs and the winner is incredible," said Kathy Hackshaw General Manager of Outlets of MS.
The competition was also sponsored by the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau.
