A line of thunderstorms associated with a cold front has caused some damage in Mississippi.

The National Weather Service Office in Memphis, Tennessee, says a possible tornado caused damage to Strayhorn Elementary School in Tate County late Thursday night.

Meteorologist John Sirmon says the extent of the damage to the school wasn't immediately known. He says a team will investigate to see if it was actually a tornado or straight line winds.

Sirmon says high winds also brought down trees and power line in other part of Tate County. No injuries have been reported.

The weather office in Jackson reports trees and power lines down in central Mississippi on Friday.

There are scattered power outages across the state with the largest number of about 2,000 in an area south of Jackson.
