Police, man in standoff after Jackson shooting - Mississippi News Now

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Jackson police are looking for a man after a fatal shooting.

They believed he had barricaded himself inside a house Monday after shooting another man in the yard. But when a SWAT team entered, the house was empty.

Police spokeswoman Colendula Green has not released the victim's name. She says he was shot in the chest about 1:30 p.m. on Abraham Lincoln Drive.

Officers blocked off several streets in the Presidential Hills neighborhood and a SWAT team was called in.

Green says officers don't yet have details of what started the gunfire.
