Mayor Yarber has signed an emergency declaration for the City of Jackson's infrastructure system.
He has met with Gov. Phil Bryant and representatives of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
Gov. Bryant says, “I want to do what I can to help the mayor in his effort and am certainly open to talking to the Mississippi Legislature about supporting infrastructure in and around the Capitol Complex.”
The city's aged infrastructure system has been plagued by problems for decades, but it has reached a critical point following severe winter weather, according to the mayor.
