Jackson police officer arrested, faces several charges - Mississippi News Now

JACKSON (Mississippi News Now/Fox News) -

A Jackson police officer finds himself on the wrong side of the law this weekend, after he's arrested.

JPD Officer Colendula Green confirms 31-year-old Officer Terence Dewayne Crump of Utica was arrested.

According to the Hinds County inmate web site Officer Crump was arrested Saturday. He is charged with simple assault, malicious mischief and petit larceny.

The report indicates he was taken into custody by JPD officers and is being detained at the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond.

Crump's wife, Shakeela Magee-Crump said the incident occurred when the officer was called by his female cousin about her ex-boyfriend harassing her.

Magee-Crump said once the officer arrived at the cousin's home, he was attacked by the ex-boyfriend.

"He was just defending himself, but he probably went over board," Magee-Crump said,

Magee-Crump said the malicious mischief  charge stemmed from Crump bursting the ex-boyfriend's truck window out.

She said Officer Crump was not in an altercation with her.

She also confirmed Crump was a JPD Officer and said he's contacted Jackson Police prior to this incident about the ex-boyfriend.

Magee-Crump said the situation with the woman's ex-boyfriend has been ongoing.
