RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Sunday afternoon there was a heavy police presence at a Ridgeland apartment.

Witnesses said officers had guns drawn as they approached building 16 at Oakbrook Apartments, located at 6675 Old Canton Road.

Police Chief Randy Tyler said SWAT responded to a resident's report of an intruder locking himself inside her apartment.

The chief said the woman took out her garbage, leaving her door opened. When she returned, the door was dead bolted from inside and a man was thought to be seen looking through the window.

"We were informed that someone had broken into a house and locked themselves in there and then the SWAT team showed up. A lot more cop cars showed up. No one was harmed," said Daley an Oakbrook resident.

The response team entered and found no one inside the apartment.

Chief Tyler said it was determined that the deadbolt was faulty.
